Teen Wolf

Teen wolf is about a group of teens (hence the name) dealing with (obviously) wolves, besides a banshee and a lot of other supernaturals. In the beginning, the show revolved around two teens, Scott and Stiles, who slacked off  a lot until one night Scott was bitten by an alpha wolf. That's when all Hell broke lose.

Stiles noticed Scott strange behavior and in turn forced Scott to tell his best friend, Stiles, about the bite. Then once the full moon came all normalcy was out the window. At first the story dealt with Scott's difficult transition into becoming a wolf, like when he would wolf out or his temper would get out of control but with the help of his buddy, his secret was kept safe. Well at least for a little while.

During his transition phase Scott discovers there is a wolf pack in town fighting for the role of alpha, Derrick, who was next in succession after his uncle died, which they thought, but he was only buried alive. Through it all there is romance between Scott and a girl whose family so happens to be werewolves’ hunters and issues involving other paranormal entities.

Since then the stories have progressed into discovering that the people they thought they knew turned out to be some sort of supernaturals with abilities or enhanced capabilities. The constant attacks on their lives and what they do to protect each other is mind blowing at times.

I like this show a lot because of the sense of humor it portrays between the serious moments and there are a lot of serious moments involving violent deaths, missing family members and the vicious paranormal beings. The characters are well acted, dramatic and likable plus the graphics are amazing but not even as much as the creative story lines. The plots are deep, twisted and dark which is why I love this show so much. For me  this season alone was amazing and my MVP of the year was Stiles, played my Dylan O'Brien (below), who believably acted his ass of in the role of Nogitsume, the chaos demon who rocked Beacon Hills.

The word "teen" may be in the tittle but this is not for the young at heart.

The Shelf by Kish Knight

Now Available!

by

Book Summary
Some people are born into a family fortune.  Bri has just entered into a family curse…
…I don’t want to die…was what Bri’s best friend said only days before.  Never having believed in curses, Bri dismissed Aeryal’s claims and assured her friend that she would live.  Assured her that all the near-death incidents were just coincidence.
Then came her funeral.
And then comes the attacks on Bri’s life, attacks that are eerily similar to the ones on Aeryal.  Without warning, she’s running for her life from a demonic being that only she can see, and in the midst of it all, not one, but two gorgeous guys are suddenly vying for her attention.
The thing is, mysterious artifacts snuggled away on her best friend’s bookshelf might prove that one of her boyfriends isn’t as innocent as he seems.

Summary:

The year was nineteen seventy-five. Barren couple, Pearl and Edward Riley stumbled upon a newborn baby girl. Her cries could only be heard by a true mother, which Pearl immediately became. Bundled up with their new child, they discovered a parcel of artifacts and a scribbled note that read: Sakkara. Pregnant seamstress, Petrina Dugal, became a runaway at the age of twenty-six. She ran away from a brutish husband, Roger, and a well-loved South American home in Georgetown, Guyana; at the heart of her rebellion – an enigmatic lover named Michael Chen. Pet and Mikey, as they became affectionately known, allowed love to blossom in front of her police officer husband and an intrusive community. Were they not aware of the dangers? Or did the pursuit of love trump obligations?
Sakkara Riley grew up with two loving parents – adoptive parents to be exact. She never knew the circumstances surrounding her discovery, until the age of sixteen. She embarks on a journey.
Jumping Ship is an introductory novella to the Island Hopping Series.

Bitten

Bitten

First of all I have to say I'd never imagined there would be a Kelley Armstrong, (my most favorite author like ever) show when I started reading her books, so YAY! Ever since reading her books I've had a love and appreciation for lycans, lycanthropes, werewolves...whatever you want to call them just as much as vampires. They are a separate species so I can like them equally. Actually, I would like Vampire stories more if they'd make them exactly what Vampires were supposed to be... Crazy! Like in Dracula, the TV show and Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Sorry, back to the show Bitten. It's set in Canada based on a pack of wolves, some born others bitten, trying to lay low and stay alive. The main pack consists of Jeremy, the head of the pack and wolf born, Clayton, Jeremy's adopted son who was bitten and left to die, Nick, Logan, Phillip & Elena who was also bitten, hence the name, by her fiancé Clayton some years ago. No human is to know of their existence period or that human will be put to death. If word got out that they existed they, themselves, would be hunted. This is how they have survive all these years.

Unfortunately, Clayton fell in love with Elena when she was human and wanted to marry her. The day he brought her home to meet Jeremy, Clayton was ordered by Jeremy to end all ties with her but instead of doing so he bit her in the hopes that she would survive even though no other woman had ever survived the turn. Somehow she did.

Sadly, Clayton didn't seriously think about the consequences of his actions. Obviously he thought if she was just like him she would stay but NAH, she was pissed (who wouldn't be) and went back to her human life, even though its not easy. Things have not always worked out the way she wanted because the pack keeps getting threatened by mutts who want to take over. When this happens the wolves are called home, some huge castle in the woods where Jeremy and Clayton live, to stop the attacks on the pack forcing Elena and her cousin Logan, who is also trying to live a human life, away from their false reality. So they lie to the people they love in order to get away.

Although Logan still lets his wolf out to run, Elena tries to fight it and winds up in awkward situations. When she's home the feeling she still has for Clayton continue to creep up but she fights that beast as well. Its a deeply twisted, emotional roller coaster of a show and I like it. Even the corny theme music.

If you'd like please feel free to check out Kelley Armstrong's books. I promise you, you wont regret it.

Thanks for stopping by!

Tethered by Brandi Leigh Hall

Summary

A sweet Young Adult Paranormal Romance for fans of CHARMED, THE SECRET CIRCLE and WITCHES OF EAST END!

No matter how you try to fight it—destiny has a mind of its own!

Since foreseeing the imminent death of her parents six years earlier, Chloe has lived a simple, not-so-charmed-life away from her remaining Wiccan family.

Zero magic.

No close friendships.

While struggling to bench-press more guilt than any nineteen-year-old ever should.

But fate intervenes and forces Chloe to return home. As if being an in-the-closet-Seer wasn’t bad enough, now she has to spend summer break with the snarky sister who hates her—and the magical birthright she was hell-bent on denying for all eternity.

Luckily, meeting Mr. Perfect takes the edge off her endless family drama. Hunter’s twenty-five, sometimes old-fashioned in a Jane Austen hero sort of way, and more delicious than molten-lava cake. But the more she tries to hide her family’s magical secrets from this ever-present stranger, the more quickly she realizes he’s hiding a few doozies of his own.

Will the lies and betrayal destroy their relationship before it really begins? Or will learning of their tethered future create an unbreakable bond neither can deny? Either way, their hearts will be forever entwined by destiny.

EXCERPT

I contemplate the familiarity of this moment, unable to maintain concentration as he leans down to rest his face on my cheek. His right hand slides up my back and under my hair, to find its resting place on the nape of my neck. His touch sparks electricity inside of me. I must be dreaming.

Why does this guy I barely know have to be so damn perfect? I don’t recall ever being held like this—not even when a guy has claimed to love me. Hunter acts like we’ve known each other forever. But we haven’t. In fact, we’re more or less strangers.

I don’t know if I should run away as fast as my feet will carry me, or take everything in until there’s nothing left. I never imagined a single person could affect me to the core this way. Part of me wants to cry. But the other part of me wants to freeze this moment in time—because I know it will eventually end anyway.
It has to.

He’d hate me if he found out who I really am. ‘What’ I really am.

I can’t get close enough to take that chance.

My eyes begin to fill. As I take a few deep, calming breaths, he pulls his head back to stare at my face. The pained expression in his eyes touches me.

Does he sense my hesitation?

But before I can debate it any further, he gently places his cool, moist lips upon mine.
Time stands still.

He leans his head back, as a single tear descends my cheek. But instead of looking surprised or upset, he simply wipes the drop away with his thumb. Gazing into my tear-filled eyes, he leans in again to take my mouth in a more forceful kiss. His soft lips massaging mine until we find a perfect, consuming rhythm.
My heart catches in my throat.

Numbness takes over my body—like I’m floating on a cloud. Is this what it means to melt? I’ve never felt anything like this. Not even close.

A first kiss like this only exists in fairytales.

And that’s all it can ever be.

My fairytale

Review

This was my kind of book. I'm just sorry it took me so long to read it. Chloe's character appeals to me. The way she handles herself and her personality is one that I love. Her life has not been an easy one and now she's forced to accept the things she wanted to forget. I would have loved a little more drama involving spells, vicious family members and deep dark secrets that turned the family in to an uproar but that's just me. Maybe in the next book Chloe will get a little nasty!

Regardless it's a great story that was well written and I enjoyed the way the author developed her characters. They were well thought out with amazing follow through. I can appreciate a supernatural story with a paranormal love twist in the middle to give it some spice. Well done B. L. Hall and I cannot wait for book two. Yes, I would highly recommend this book.

*****/5
